Many people shy away from eating nuts because they believe that nuts are high in calories. Though nuts are high in calories, studies have shown that people who frequently consume nuts actually have less of a problem with obsity than those who do not eat nuts. Frequent nut consumption, particularly of almonds and walnuts, has also been shown to be protective against heart disease. In addition, a recent study has shown that consumption of nuts by women was less likely at risk of developing type 2 diabetes. What was really amazing was that this relationship was seen even in women who were obese.
