Hollywood history is full of stars that touted with fad diets. Unfortunately, the most current "Hollywood" diets lack the high fiber, grains, fresh vegetables, proteins and generally healthy lifestyles that early Hollywood food gurus respected. Instead, high-sugar fruit juice concoctions, food-combining "secrets" and "the all-mighty magic pill that promises you everything" tend to make today's Hollywood diet plans of limited value. All these magic pills have herbs or stimulants, in my opinion, are dangerous and lack medical supervision and safeguards. Downsides of some of these ‘miracle pills’ include elevated heart rate, risk of heart attacks and strokes, irritability, depression and burnouts.
High protein, low fat, low carbs, very limited calories diets will produce weight loss short term, but can create imbalances in the body that will make it harder to lose weight long term. All of these current fad and crash diets have two common flaws: You get tired of them or can't stay on them for different reasons and when you come off — usually in a short time — you regain your weight and then some.
Marketing this holiwood lifestyle give the viewing public a false picture of true reality, especially younger women. The younger generation is all hyped up about having a fantastic new body like a Hollywood star. They talk about subjects like: Hollywood Nutrition, Hollywood Sculpt, and a new Hollywood body within 6 weeks. Being at a vulnerable age, they think if they look thinner they will be more popular, accepted and more important short term. Mimicking the high of this lifestyle only to leads to burn outs and debts. The long and the short of it is if they felt good about who they are as a person, they would not wish to be anyone else but themselves.
Wake up people, these fads have only one thing in mind: MONEY
Incidence of eating disorders has increased over the last 30-40 years. Approximately 0.5 percent to 1.0 percent of late adolescent or adult women meet criteria for the diagnosis of anorexia nervosa, 90% being women.
A recurring statement in the literature is that “Of all mental illness in Canada and the United States, anorexia nervosa is the leading cause of death.” Anorexia nervosa has been called “the dying-to-be-beautiful disorder” because it usually starts with dieting to improve appearance and it often ends in death.
Do you really want to be part of the scene of people trying to have perfect, hair, teeth, skin, body, wardrobe and being artificially perfectly happy? That seems limiting and a lot of work to me…
Practice being grateful for every part of your body daily. You will see amazing results.
