MENOPAUSE

Menopause is not an isolated phenomena of life and certainly not a disease. Emotionally and spiritually, menopause is an evolution cycle which the person becomes more mature within. It represents a change in conscience from being mature to becoming wise. Menopause is as important in the adult as puberty is in children. It prepares the last period of life and if it is well balanced, opens the person to their true values.

Physically menopause denotes the cessation of menstruation. In women who have strong adrenal glands and a healthy liver, there are no symptoms – just a smooth transition. As the ovaries stop secreting their sex hormones, the adrenal glands start producing alternate hormones that preserve the secondary feminine characteristics. The vast majority of women, however, have overworked their adrenal glands for decades with stress, caffeine, sugar and/or alcohol – so their transition is anything but smooth, producing the hot flashes and emotional symptoms usually associated with menopause. PLUS™ is the broad spectrum formula of choice to prepare the body for menopause and to help the woman through the transition. Helping the body continue a natural cycle by eating estrogenic and progesterone inducing foods or food supplements such as flaxseed oil or evening primrose oil. Estro-Mend or Progesto-Mend provides herbs that support optimal estrogen and progesterone function for treating post-menopause symptoms. As we age, we naturally demineralize. Make sure your minerals are from plant source as these are the highest quality; Blue-green Algae, Tissue Salts (homeopathic) A liver cleanse and even a kidney cleanse may also be beneficial as these are the two main filters in your body. Eliminate caffeine, sugar and alcohol. They are great to bring on the hot flashes…

WHAT TO DO AS A PARENT?

It’s obvious as parents that we cant’t control every facet of our children’s lives, especially as they get older. We can do three things, though: 1) love them, 2) lead by example and 3) give them the best start in life nutritionally as possible.

Nutritional suggestions:

  • Breast–fed children develop stronger immune systems. Try to breast feed at least 12 to 18 months.
  • Avoid common food allergens for at least the first 12 months after birth. Introduce greens and dark pigmented berries such as blueberries to the diet. They contain valuable nutrients including B vitamins, vitamin C, bioflavonoids and anthocyanidins.
  • Reduce or eliminate sugar, including soft drinks. It contributes to childhood obesity.
  • Avoid junk foods, usually high in starch or sugar, low in fiber and with very little vitamins and mineral contents.
  • Supplements with vitamins, minerals, EFAs (essential fatty acids) and probiotics are keys in the development of healthy children.

Essential Fatty Acids: critical for cellular repair and development. EFAs support proper brain, eyesight and immune system development.

B vitamins: necessary for the proper development and function of the nervous system, brain and muscles.

Calcium: (mixed with right ratio of magnesium and vitamin D) supports skeletal development. Liquid form is best.

Vitamin A & D: Natural fish oil sourced. Supports immune system function, skeletal and eye development and health skin.

Probiotics: Supports the immune system, proper digestion and general health.

REMEMBERANCE DAY

Honoring those who have given or risked their lives for our freedom. These are the brave people and their lives were never the same upon their return because of what they lived.

A war to bring peace. Somehow this is very conflicting. To me war is all about politics, strategies and power at the expense of precious lives. War would not exist if our LEADERS (NOT ONLY POLITICAL LEADERS - PARENTS, TEACHERS, NEIGHBOURS ETC.) would teach people about living together as human beings. As the Dalai Lama often says: 'All beings are equal in seeking happiness and trying to avoid suffering'. The main word in this message is ALL. It doesn't say only my family, friends, neighbours, race, gender, class, religion or nation. It includes people we don't know and those different from us or even those who cause us harm. There is always some that want to fight.

As corny as this may sound, in order to get through the 21st century, countries need to focus on mutual respect and a universal sense of community. This will bring the focus on building instead of rebuilding after war.

What is really important in politics? It is time to get rid of our fancy attitudes: racism, sexisms, nationalism, all the 'ism' that result in war, poverty, injustice, ignorance and environmental destruction.

Ignorance is what we are doing as a nation by letting millions die of AIDS in Africa when it is so preventable.

We are lying to ourselves and futur generations when we abuse the gift of the natural world, by using it for profit and by not recognizing its intrinsic value.

PEACE is every step in our own staircase of choices that brings us home. When we are at peace we are at home no matter where we are in this world.

Let's teach the future generations to respect those who have gone to war but that war is not necessary for PEACE.
