OLIVE OIL HEALTH DISCOVERY
Research shows that the beneficial effects of olive oil may extend beyond cholesterol control. Replacing saturated fats with unsaturated fats such as olive oil can help reduce cholesterol and keep the heart healthy. Now researchers have discovered that fresh extra-virgin olive oil contains a compound that helps fight inflammation. A compound found in olive oil called oleocanthal fights inflammation in a manner similar to ibuprofen, inhibiting the enzymes involved in pain and inflammation responses. The amount of oleocanthal obtained from daily olive oil consumption would elicit a much smaller anti-inflammatory effect compared to medication and more research is needed to determine whether olive oil consumption has any clinical effect on inflammation. However, some researchers speculate that the heart benefits of a Mediterranean-style diet, which includes ample amounts of olive oil, may be due in part to the anti-inflammatory properties of olive oil. The inflammation of tissues, such as those of the vascular system, plays a role in the development of heart disease. A great way to add olive oil to your diet is to replace creamy salad dressing high in saturated fats with a drizzle of olive oil, balsamic vinegar and garlic. Make sure you purchase your olive oil in dark glass bottles. Visit our store in Shediac, for Korinthia Extra Virgin Olive oil, product from Greece. MEN'S HEALTH
“It is estimated that 10-30 million men in the United States are experiencing some form of impotence, of which only about 200,000 per year seek medical help. By the age of 50, about 30% of men will start to experience difficulties with urination related to enlargement of the prostate gland.” states Tom Kruzel, N.D.of Scottsdale, Arizona. Although impotence has long been associated with aging, growing older is not necessarily an inevitable cause. This varies from person to person, depending on their overall health and vitality. Impotence is defined as the inability to sustain a satisfactory erection to perform intercourse and ejaculation. Inability to achieve or maintain an erection can have both psychological and biological causes. A man who has spontaneous erections during sleep but is unable to have them when awake has an entirely psychological cause for his problem. If he is unable to have erections during sleep, then the cause is biological – and nutrition can help. A combination of changing a few lifestyle and eating habits and adding nutritional supplements that provide specific nutrients to strengthen and increase blood flow to the reproductive organs helps regain strength and vitality. Supplements that may help: R.T.R.E., Combination M, PRO. Biotherapeutic Drainage may also help when sexual dysfunction is due to overworking the nervous system. SOFT DRINKS
Consumption of sugar-laden soft drinks during the formative teenage years increases urinary calcium excretion and decreases the amount of calcium laid down in bone. People who drink a lot of soft drinks in their teens and twenties are more prone to osteoporosis and fractures in the later years.
